3. Browse through and select a topic.
4. Select a topic that you understand and are passionate about.
Research:
1. Read the selected article and highlight words or sentences that would support your thesis.
2. Make sure to write borrowed ideas in your own words.
3. Use quotation marks for direct quotes from the article.
4. Cite the source: Author (last name, first name). "Article title." Website. Date published. Sponsor. Source. Date accessed. URL address.

2. Form a thesis statement (your opinion).
3. Identify two reasons to support your thesis.
4. Provide well-developed, relevant details for each reason.
5. Include a summary of the opposing viewpoint.
6. Refute and discredit the opposing viewpoint.
Essay:
1. Complete the intro: include hook and thesis
2. Complete the body: reason 1, reason 2, opposing view summarized and refuted.
3. Complete the conclusion: thesis restated, reason summary, final thought.
